The Ouija board has long been surrounded by myths and misconceptions, often fueled by fear and superstition. Myth #1: Ouija boards are inherently evil or dangerous.
The Ouija board has long remained a subject of controversy, mainly thanks to all the horror content made over the years thanks to Television and Films. But even before that, when it started roughly back in the 1800s, it was a matter of curiosity, skepticism, fear as well as entertainment. The Ouija board started as a parlor game, and as it usually happens, there's always some additional spice that's added on to any event or thing when the information is passed down from one person to another (gossip). And it is always easier and more entertaining to tell people of horror experiences than telling them how a spiritual experience is. Also because explaining a spiritual experience is more difficult than weaving horror stories.
What you must know is that the board itself is pretty neutral and doesn't get negative or positive. There's a confluence of energies that happens upon it and based on the person doing the practice or the energies called, the experience can be positive or negative.

Tip: Don't call Satan or his Minions and things shall be good to go!

 Myth #2: Ouija boards always summon malevolent spirits or demons.

Communication with spirits can vary depending on what intentions are put into the board whilst working with it. You must remember, at the end of the day, it is just a divination tool, like Tarot or Runes. There have been other methods of divination that have existed way before the Ouija Board came into being and there could be more ways in the future too. Communication with the dead, or spirits of the other dimension, has been an innate thing of amusement for all, a reason why they've always been trying to find ways and means of making this connection.

Simply put, if you call upon someone you know had been a good person whilst living, that person would be good in spirit too. Try to avoid any person who may have died a horrific death, a sudden death or was just a nasty person whilst alive. That would help keep a clean environment whilst working with the Ouija board.

Tip: If you are afraid of summoning malevolent spirits or demons, call upon your angels; they're always wanting to communicate with you and might even bring you some good advice on life.

Myth #3: Ouija boards can predict the future with absolute certainty.
Before you delve into using the Ouija Board for fortune telling, you must know a few things about spirits. Firstly, they often talk in riddles or anagrams. So it is important that you grab a paper and pencil or in today's times you can have a recorder or a video camera on to have a recording of whatever messages have come through. Then after the session is over, you can sit and try to decode the message to decipher the meaning of it. Whilst you do this, you must know that spirits have certain limitations with regards to talking about the future, and they are not allowed to reveal everything.
You will have to use discernment and critical thinking when interpreting messages, as these messages can be quite deep and could touch upon various levels. Remember, after all it is coming from another dimension altogether.

Tip: You could try to talk to them about understanding a certain situation that's currently going on in your life or maybe ask for their advice.

Myth #4: Using an Ouija board will open a portal to the spirit world that cannot be closed.
Like any module of spirituality, there is a certain decorum that you must follow whilst working with the board. Firstly, you must leave all skepticism behind and come in full faith and respect for the Ouija. Just like when you invite guests over and you greet them well whilst inviting as well as bid them a good adieu when they are leaving, similarly you are inviting a spirit into your space; which was a person after all at some point of time. Mutual respect holds the key to harmonious energies and a great experience overall.

Also you must know that spirits are highly sensitive beings, and the smallest of things could irk them. So yes, you might need to be a little careful in your interactions. But there isn't any such case where the portal opens and you can't close it. Yes the portal does open, because how else would they come by and talk. But that doesn't mean that you can't close it. Perform the session properly with a good hello and a proper goodbye.

Tip: Respect the board, and the board shall respect you.

Myth #5: Ouija boards are only for experienced mediums or psychics
Before you start working with the board, there are certain things to be taken into consideration. You have to create a good environment, light a candle, or more depending on what practice you want to follow and cleanse as well as shield yourself.

Shielding doesn't mean you need to wear an iron suit!

There are processes for cleansing and shielding and these are often taught when you undergo an initiation into a spiritual modality. To begin with it would be good if you could have some guidance from someone who is experienced, so that you have a smoother process. It is a tool for spirit communication and like every communication has its own way of making the connection, similarly you may have to learn the correct way to make the right connection with the spirit.

That said, you can be an amateur practitioner and still work with the Ouija. How else would you become an experienced medium otherwise? But yes, the prerequisite of this practice is that you need to have a good connection with your inner and higher self and trust your instincts more often, as that helps in building your psychic abilities (if you are not a born psychic).

Tip: Approach the board with an open mind and leave all inhibitions behind.
